I like the way you've joined the parts we all know to an ending that we can only guess and made their story complete. Elf/dwarf isn't a usual choice for me to read, but I remember another one you wrote about these two and figured I'd enjoy this - and I did :) I loved the little touches of humour all through and the way Gimli slid from dislike to love without ever quite realising what was happening. There was something so 'right' about this story - it left me feeling warm and happy.
